Double your Money for a Great Cause !

Chester Zoo has some great news… not only are we celebrating the birth of a new baby elephant at the zoo but we have once again been chosen to be a charity in the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

This means that any donations made on 6th – 8th December will be DOUBLED via a funding match pot** This all starts today!

The project that the Big Give is supporting is our Assam Haathi Project (AHP), which helps to mitigate against human-elephant conflict in India.  Specifically this year all money raised will help bring solar power to some of the villages that we are working with in Assam to protect their homes and crops from elephants.

Our AHP is a fantastic example of how working alongside local people and helping them to develop techniques to reduce human elephant conflict is helping to save the elephants and increase the quality of life of both the villagers and the wildlife.  In fact over the last 12 months we’re really pleased to say crop loss due to elephants has been at its lowest since records began in 2005 and better still no elephants have been injured or killed in our project villages.

For this special challenge we’re asking all our friends to help us if they can by making a donation, or sharing this email amongst their friends, colleagues or staff.

Help us bring a bit of light to people and elephants in Assam this Christmas.

**The match pot funding is limited, with funds released at 10am on each of the three Big Give Christmas Challenge days.  So if you’d like to get your donation DOUBLED then set your alarm for 10am today, Friday or Saturday.

50% of the match pot is made up from funding from the Big Give and 50% from some of our very own supporters – thanks to Hill Dickinson LLP, The Lindley Group, Airbus UK and Barton Willmore.
