Choosing the right marketing tactics – are you ?!

A cohesive marketing plan is key to the success of any business. Do you need an overview of what marketing is, why it is needed and what should be reviewed and evaluated in order to gain a strategy and choose the right marketing tactics for your business?.

About the Presenter

Julie has worked in a range of business sectors such as; Industrial Noise Control, Plastic Moulding and Compounding, Aviation, Plastic Cards, Payment Transaction and Solution Systems and Data Capture, it has led to an exposure and understanding of a number of  industries; printing, refineries, automotive, white and brown goods, retail, public sector and banking and financial services. Julie has therefore gained a very broad knowledge and extensive experience in a range of industries and market sectors.

Initially trained and qualified in Engineering and spending 10 years as a project engineer, working for an industrial noise control company, on studying for her CIM (marketing) qualifications Julie took a move to Technical Sales.  This led her to spend the last 18 years in Business Development and senior Marketing Roles. Julies responsibilities have included creating strategic marketing and sales plans, responsible for new business creation and business development, face-to-face sales, managing marketing budgets, campaigns, market research, marketing communications (internal and external), re-branding, as well as creating partnerships and associations to build and increase a business position, profile and growth.

Having worked in more technical based companies, I Julie has worked alongside production environments, marketing and sales, as well as being responsible for and managing a customer base with key clients.

Julie gained a postgraduate Diploma in Marketing with CIM in 2000 and now holds Member status with the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing).

  • What is marketing – what is the need?
  • Illustrate the benefits of marketing and the pitfalls if not utilised correctly.
  • Review the 4P’s. Illustrate where promotion sits and what needs to be undertaken prior to promotional plans and campaigns being started.
  • Discuss the pros and cons of the various main promotional tactics
  • Raise the need to embrace marketing within all businesses – B2B / B2C / not-for-profit
