CVA support Autism Hour

The National Autistic Society (NAS) Autism Hour campaign aims to improve the lives of autistic people and their families by changing public perceptions, attitudes and behaviour towards them by improving public understanding of autism and by improving access to community facilities such as shopping centres, cafes, leisure centres, heritage sites and other public places.

The Autism Hour campaign commences the week beginning 2nd October 2017 and asks retailers and businesses to choose an hour during that week when they will agree to, turn down music or other noise and dim the lights, share information with employees and increase public understanding. Chester Voluntary Action are working in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council, along with many other statutory and voluntary sector partners to be a part of this important campaign

We want to encourage local shops, businesses and services to sign up on the National Autistic Website by the 15th September 2017. All of the information you need to be a part of this important initiative can be found here www.autism.org.uk/autismhour , the website also has a host of resources such as letters and flyers to explain the importance of the campaign.

The local branch of the NAS in conjunction with Storyhouse are running a TMI (Too Much Information) event to raise awareness about autism as part of the Autism Hour initiative. This will take place on Monday 2nd October at 10am at Storyhouse.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity Corporate Challenge

2017 is an exciting time for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, as we start our expansion into the heart of the region with a brand new hospital in Liverpool city centre and look ahead to improving our Wirral site.

It’s our vision to transform cancer care for patients across the North West and this is your chance to be with us from the very beginning! In 2015, companies across Merseyside and Cheshire raised over £30,000 in our first ever corporate challenge. This helped to fund the state of the art Varian Edge radiotherapy machine, making us the first cancer hospital in the UK to have this piece of equipment. It has since made a huge difference to the treatment plan of hundreds of patients.

In 2016, businesses of every size took part in our second Clatterbridge Corporate Challenge and raised over £25,000 to help fund The Lounge – an important social space for our most unwell patients, when the new hospital opens its doors.

We need your help once again in 2017/18!  By signing up to our challenge, and making the pledge to turn £50 into £1000 over six months, you could help us raise the additional £15,000 still needed to fund the Lounge in our new hospital in Liverpool.

This is your chance to really make a difference to the community in which you work, supporting cancer patients in our region, and having fun in the process. Sign up today to join in this ground-breaking endeavour, as, together, we create a legacy to be proud of for the rest of our lives.

Ride of the Roses – support The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

Ride of the Roses – support The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity at their annual 50, 80 or 100 mile cycle challenge

Just £20 to register, there is a choice of three circular routes of 50, 80 or 100 miles all on road starting in Banks, Southport.

The three routes will each take you along stunning Lancashire country lanes. The 80 mile and 100 mile routes will include some cycling through and around the Trough of Bowland, an area of outstanding beauty! All three routes are designed to be challenging but the 50 mile route has fewer challenging hills but is equally as scenic. We strongly advice only experienced cyclists take on the epic 100 mile route which has over 6,000 ft of climbing.

Amber is going online!

Amber Consulting is very pleased to announce that we will be launching our online Fundraising Coaching modules in September 2017!

The online facility will enable fundraisers to access fundraising coaching throughout the UK at a time and place which is convenient to you.  I am passionate that fundraisers receive support, as I know having done the job that it can be isolating, frustrating and yet highly rewarding all at the same time!  So, I have committed to launching online coaching modules to help fundraisers to step back from the day job, evaluate the good, bad and ugly and help you move forward.  The online modules will be supported with a Questions and Answers session which will be available via a Facebook Group on a regular basis.

We look forward to sharing more details of the launch, which will coincide with the Institute of Fundraising, North West, conference in September !
